QG vs LQ (Match – 4) – Highlights

In the 4th match of the Pakistan Super League 2025, held in Rawalpindi on April 13, Lahore Qalandars delivered a commanding performance to secure a 79-run victory over Quetta Gladiators. Batting first, Lahore posted an imposing total of 219 for 6, with Fakhar Zaman leading the charge with a brilliant 67 off just 39 deliveries. Quetta, in response, faltered in the chase and was bowled out for 140 in 16.2 overs. Fakhar’s explosive knock at the top earned him the Player of the Match award as the Qalandars dominated both with the bat and ball to claim a resounding win.

Lahore Qalandars put on a batting masterclass, racking up 219 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs. Fakhar Zaman set the tone with a dazzling 67 off 39 balls, striking 7 fours and 3 sixes at a brisk strike rate of 171.79. He was well supported by Abdullah Shafique and Daryl Mitchell, both of whom contributed valuable 37-run knocks at a rapid pace. The real fireworks came from Sam Billings, who blasted an unbeaten 50 off just 19 deliveries, hammering 4 fours and 4 sixes to propel Lahore to a massive total. Despite a few quick wickets in the middle, the Qalandars maintained their aggressive tempo throughout the innings, finishing with an impressive run rate of 10.95.

Akeal Hosein was the pick of the bowlers for QG, claiming 2 wickets for 40 runs in his 4-over spell. Abrar Ahmed also chipped in with 2 wickets while giving away 33 runs at a respectable economy of 8.25.

Usman Tariq bowled with control, taking 1 wicket for 31 in his 4 overs. However, the rest of the attack was expensive — Mohammad Amir went wicketless and leaked 46 runs, while Faheem Ashraf conceded 49 runs in just 3 overs for a single scalp. Shoaib Malik bowled one over and was taken for 16 runs, highlighting the challenges United faced in trying to slow down the Qalandars’ run flow.

Chasing a steep target of 220, Quetta Gladiators crumbled under pressure and were bowled out for just 140 in 16.2 overs, falling short by 79 runs. Their innings got off to a disastrous start, with the top three — Saud Shakeel, Finn Allen, and Hasan Nawaz — all dismissed cheaply, each scoring just a single run or less.

Kusal Mendis provided a brief counterattack with a fiery 28 off 14, while Rilee Rossouw led the scoring with an explosive 44 from just 19 balls, smashing 4 fours and 4 sixes. However, the rest of the batting lineup failed to offer much resistance. Faheem Ashraf chipped in with 21, but the lower order quickly folded under Lahore’s relentless bowling. The Gladiators’ chase never gained momentum, and they ultimately succumbed to a heavy defeat.

Shaheen Shah Afridi led from the front for LQ, conceding just 6 runs in his 2 overs while picking up 2 early wickets to set the tone. Rishad Hossain was the standout bowler, finishing with impressive figures of 3 for 31 in his full quota of 4 overs.

Asif Afridi also took 2 wickets in his 2.2 overs. Sikandar Raza kept things tight in the middle overs, returning economical figures of 2 for 12 in 3 overs. While Haris Rauf was a bit expensive, giving away 35 runs in 3 overs, he still managed to pick up a crucial wicket. Jahandad Khan had a tough outing, conceding 34 runs in just 2 overs, but Lahore’s bowling unit overall ensured a comprehensive 79-run victory.
